PyiDaungSu Font Using in Kali Linux

After installing Kali, when you open Burmese sites in Kali Linux's browser, it will appear as above.

Note. . This means the current version. Depending on the version difference, it may already be readable. You don't need to do this if you can read and type. Can be skipped.

When the Burmese font does not appear as in the picture, you will need to install the font. So, download the required file below.  Download size 203KB only (<1MB)

Since you don't need to install the keyboard, you can just download the ttf file, so the size is not big.

Click Here to Download Needed File

Let's assume that the download has already been made. In Kali, R-Click the downloaded file >> Extract here and extract it. You will see a folder called PyiDaungSuForKali. Open it up. It's easy, so I won't show the picture anymore.

After opening, press R-Click on the empty space as shown in the picture above and click Open Terminal Here. (as shown in the picture)

Terminal will open and if you type ls, you should see something like the picture above.
You can copy the command below and type it in the terminal.

(Or you can run ./setup.sh as shown in the picture above.)
You can also run setup.sh without copying the above command.
After running, you can close the terminal.

Now you can see Burmese texts in the browser.
To type, you must proceed as follows.

Open settings and go to Keyboard.

As shown in the image above, go to Layout and click on the blue button on the right side of Use system defaults and close it. So you will be able to fix it as you like.

Next, click the +Add button in the lower left corner and select Burmese. Select the same as in the picture above. Not Burmese Zawgyi. Be careful.

Now you can see Burmese under English (US) as shown in the picture above. To switch between Burmese and English, you have to change the layout.

Click Change Layout Option and choose a custom layout. I chose Win+Space. Just press the Windows Logo Key (Start Menu Key) and the Space bar together to change it.
Note that Ctrl + Shift cannot be selected. Because the shortcut key in Linux Terminal is Ctrl + Shift. For example - if you want to copy the letters in Terminal, it's Ctrl+Shift+C, and if you want to paste, it's Ctrl+Shift+V.

Now I can type, but the Onscreen Keyboard is not yet in Burmese. You can still make it appear.

Open Settings again.

Go Appearance on Top left corner.

From the window that opens, go to Fonts and select Pyidaungsu Font under Default Font. I chose Pyidaungsu Bold Italic. Choose what you are comfortable with. So when you use the Onscreen Keyboard, you must see the font characters.
Now you can see Burmese language on the Onscreen Keyboard. However, I have not yet seen whether it is Burmese or English, like in Windows. If you want to see it, you can continue as follows.

As shown in the image above, R-Click on the space on the upper task bar that says Right Click Here. Then click +Add New Items from the Panel as shown in the circle in the picture.

In the box that appears, select Keyboard Layouts and click +Add. (Double click can also be used)

Now you can see the US flag as shown in the picture above. If you change the keyboard layout, you will see the Myanmar flag. As shown by the arrows, you can click the flag image and then change the keyboard to Burmese and English.

May all be well

Thank you
